just a reminder to everyone cos its been happening a bit lately..

please choose the most appropriate forum section to put your topics in! lots of things have been popping up in a specific SP section that dont actually have anything to do with that SP.

This site isn't really a theory-helper, but you might find it useful:

2nd. These books are great.

Bought the bass guitar guide & its the best theory book I've bought so far... Even though it did kill my chances & musician cred with the chick in the bookshop.

the most useful tool i still have from my guitar days for sampling are my ears.

learn to recognize different chords (7th, 6th, 9th and their maj min versions especially) and how they are made.

practice tuning a guitar if you can. (don't have to play it just tune it)

tune the guitar in open, without using a tuner or the fifth fret technique

this way you can tune 4ths and 3rds together by ear.

then you can recognize how to make better use out of samples you may have avoided do to dissonance/background instruments.

sounds like a round about way of doing things, but trust me it will change how you work with melodic samples
