Re: KORG MICROSAMPLER!!
No doubt the features are freakin' dope on that thing. I'm just not feeling bangin' beats with keys. If they made that with a set of pads, then I'll be balls and cock up in that.

Re: KORG MICROSAMPLER!!
When I say real pitch I mean you can tune the sample up or down!Ol school type pitch not like the 404!The differesnt sampling modes are really ill!you can have your record playing and while its playing you can press a key and it will record on to that key however long you hold it down! You can do this type of chopping all up and down the keyboard!Plus it has 4 types of sampling modes 48hz 24 hz 12 hz and 6 hz!dont sleep!!

Even if it had RCA inputs, you still couldn't directly sample from a turntable. It has no phono preamp. That said, I don't know of any sampler which does have one. You ALWAYS have to put a phono preamp inbetween.
MV-8800 for one.
plus my pre-amp made specifically for turntables has the "rca" outs, but only a single 1/4" trs.
plus my mixer has "rca" outs, and that works as a pretty decent pre-amp also.

I see. Yeah, the SP-606 pitch is a lot better. The range of the 404's pitch isn't very broad.

That sounds like a fast work-flow indeed.

I just did a little write up of what I think the strengths and weaknesses are. Its an awesome little machine. And SO portable, mine came with the Korg carrying case and if you gig a lot DO NOT USE IT!!!!! mine is not broken but the case is flimsy and not worth a sh1t.
also on page two of that thread I posted some examples of stuff I recorded with just the Microsampler running into the SP's effects.
peace,
J.

The Zoom Sampletrak has a preamp built in.... I know, I know, another shameless plug

Yes, a microphone preamp
And on a side note, the type of plug/jacks a unit has doesn't matter a single bit, as long as it's the correct type of signal you can always use adaptors.

Re: KORG MICROSAMPLER!!
What's the difference between a Mic preamp and a Phono preamp? I'm just curious because I've sampled directly from turntables to the Sampletrak without a mixer. I just flipped the switch on the back and I was ready to go.
Re: KORG MICROSAMPLER!!
Oh god damn! now i'm really stuck.
I'm currently SPless making beats on Logic, which is wack lol
I can't decide man, I'm gonna cop the microkorg xl, but now i cant decide what to get with it, 404sx, mpc2Kxl, or a microsampler!
what do you guys think (think about it from a neutral point of view rather than an SP fan)?

Re: KORG MICROSAMPLER!!
If you get the MPC you can use it to sequence the microkorg..
if you get the 404 you will have the most portable battery powered setup
If you get the 2 korgs??? I dunno.. see I wouldn't go for 2 keyboards - I'd get the microsampler + a desktop synth then u can just play it thru the microsampler keyboard.. but then i dunno if you can use the sampler at the same time you play something else with its keys, could be an issue.

Re: KORG MICROSAMPLER!!
I obviously just got here. Been lurking. Don't have an sp yet, but I do have a microsampler. Its been a great little machine, quite easy to learn. In my eyes, its biggest limitation is that the fx are a pain to work with. That being said, anybody want to trade me for a 404?
