hey guys. i'm trying to figure out a work around for the panning issue on the 404sx (the inability to pan per sample). i'd like to be able to send audio out into a mixer where i'll set the panning field, then send it right back into the ins on the sx....is it possible to play patterns and "resample" the source/audio-in at the same time?

thanks!

nope, your gonna have to record into something else, then back into the 404 after that

dude... it's the same like connecting the 404 outs to the ins.
you'll get a mad feeeeedback chain... don't do that!!!

That's exactly why he said after that. :)

dude..... well, i hoping that i could play a pattern without monitoring the source (to avoid feedback loops) and record to a pad...

damn, the fact that the 404 doesn't have pan per sample is gonna be pretty big workflow setback...

how do you guys handle panning?

thanks

You can't play patterns while sampling or resampling. Sadly.

How to pan... you can either do like Dr van Nostrand suggested, or transfer the files to the PC via SD card, pan them there and transfer them back. That way you wouldn't even have any quality loss.

u can use the autopan effect, just make it nice n slow and resample at the right point.

yep i was thinking about that-- can you choose to resample at a specific point in a pattern? or are you talking about resampling a whole pattern, then truncating the sample at the point where you're happy with the panning point?

sorry about all the questions. i'd love to just investigate this myself but i don't have my sx yet. it was shipped on friday, so i'm impatiently waiting!

you can't resample patterns just with the 404.
i think he's saying how to pan single samples. turn the tremolo/pan MFX on for whatever you wanna pan, make the rate real slow, and keep hitting the pad until you hear it's where you want it, then resample that.
