NEED HELP...I WANT TO USE MY 404 AS A SOUND MODULE WITH MY M

Ok..so i want to be able to control and record the samples in my 404 on the mpc500. I know people control their 404 with their 1k's. I want the pads on my mpc to trigger the sounds in my 404. I've read the threads on numerous forums but i cant get it to work.

Here's how I have it set up.
The MIDI out of the mpc is going into the MIDI in of the 40
The audio outs of the 404 are going into the audio ins of the mpc
The audio outs of the mpc are going to my monitors

I want to sample sounds into my 404, add effects, then sample them into or trigger them with the mpc.
I want to use my mpc as an external sequencer for my 404.

I have the MIDI clocks of both the devices in sync.

I dont think theres an audio thru on the 500. So, you wont be able to hear stuff your sequencing on the 404. You will only be able to hear the 404 when the MPC is in sample record mode. Another problem may be that you dont have the right notes/channel assigned to the MPCs pads. You can always just record the samples from the 404 into the MPC and play them on there also.

Or you just get a mixer of some kind. Audio outputs of the 500 and the 404 into the mixer, mixer outputs to your monitors and bob's your uncle.

werd...what he said sequencing the 404 from the MPC is definately gonna be the best way to do it.
