LOL The whole roland.com/sampler website is so confused. There is a part called "collaborators" and one of the people is some DJ I've never heard of, one is a fictional character and the third guy is an illustrator who drew the second guy??????... Uhhhhhhh what are they collaborating on? This website? What the hell are you talking about Roland? If I didn't know what a sampler was, after looking at that page I would still have no freaking clue. What a joke.

I'm sure by now SP-forums is on their radar big time since they are "trying" to follow suit with their own site, I just find it a shame that they would not draw from the amazing pool of audio and visual SP users here. Why market the SP line to a smaller market of people who already own turntables, opposed to the larger market of any person who enjoys music and may be interested in experiment with some sounds for a decent price.
They had it with the 505 and 303 and then they started to get lazy and re-package and sell the same sample engine in different boxes. They have it all wrong at this point IMHO. I'll stay with my 303 and make battery pack for it(thanks to the hard work of forums users) and cop a 404sx after the SP hype dies and people realize it's not a warm fuzzy 303 with weird RDAC compression and it's not a laptop with a crisp, clean sounding DAW with a complete sequencing option, it's in between both worlds.

ouch... he's only a DMC worldchamp (2002)... yeah that's easy to achieve...

nowadays signed on ninja tunes. believe me he IS really cool... :x

kinda strange though that they aim more on dj's than on producers. :?

Yeah it actually does not have a forum so there is nothing to worry about.

i compare this site to going over a buddies crib and blowing a dutchie. its like the crib you go to to just chill and chat. this is like the best site ive been to and will probably stay that way. aint no point in being mad at roland. roland is like the teacher who never understood the potential of their student, but their students were all smart as fuck and made a bunch of beats during lunchtime! roland doesnt know what its missing but at least we all know what we got!!!

:D I see you DREW!! I feel your pain, I'm sure if Dre used an SP505 for Chronic or T-Pain actually used the pitch-shift effect on the 404 for vocals, this place would be flooded. But then it'll just be another mpc-forums and I wouldn't want that. Here is where real SP users have freedom of speech and where the true underground abodes. Its a shame that Roland is aiming for posers and dummying their products to that level. Its like a sequel to BeatKangz.[/quote]

i know i seen the beat kangz thing and lawld.

Hi all,

I just want to clarify a couple of points:

First of all, thanks for all the praise. You guys should know though, there's someone else working on SP-Forums as well, albeit a bit more behind the scenes. TommyCrano aka Chulukinat aka my brother :). He came up with the idea of the site (he's a SP-user himself) and I knew how to realize it so that's how SP-Forums was born.

Secondly, this Roland site doesn't seem to be direct 'competitor' with us. It looks to be a mini-site celebrating their amount of SPs sold. Can't blame him for that I think.

Thirdly, Roland actually contacted us a while ago asking us if we would send in a photo and a quote they could put on their website. I think it was meant for this mini-site, so I'm not sure why it isn't there. I'll email them and ask. Perhaps they decided to go another direction, who knows… – I'll upload the photo here as well since I think it is actually pretty dope :).

Fourthly (is that a word?), The guy I spoke to seemed laid-back and told us if we were ever in the neighborhood we should drop by and say hello. There even was talk of a possible interview. – So I think they realize the influence of this community, but perhaps they are not sure yet sure how to leverage it.

Fifthly, nothing, but I like the sound of that word. Fifthly!

nice photoshoot, makes me wanna take my sp to work and get some shots taken on the green screen and key in some funny ass background!!! like me playing my sp on the edge of the grand canyon or some shit! or banging beats riding an elephant backwards. nice to know your in contact with the roland people but dont sell this site out cause this shit will turn into the mpc forums if anything corporate gets its hands on it. its cool the way it is, fuck exposure. i mean, what would roland do for this site that would be so beneficial to all of us besides exploit it and put a shit ton of pop ups and ads all over.
but if you interview and do some work with them cats, ROB THEM MOTHERFUCKERS BLIND!!!! and grab me a 606 if you got a free hand!
(...and a spare trs cable if they got em...:)
