layering drums??

ive read a couple of times a nice way to get top notch drums on a track is to layer them?? do u guys agree?? also how do i go about doing that on an sp? do i need a bunch of drum sounds or can i layer the same hit? ive even heard of layering them with barely audible sound fx

on an sp, all you have to do is get your sounds you want to layer on different pads and resample, hitting both and repeat if necessary. i don't usually do any layering with drums besides kicks. i think you can get tons of different snare sounds with just djfx looper and mfx16 filter.

Yeah, me neither, at least on the SP-404 that is.

For some beats it's definitely useful to layer to beef up the sounds, but with the SP-404 getting a good control over cutting off lows and or highs makes it a tad difficult to get right.

In general though, samples might sound a lot better when layered properly.
