OK! let's try again..

TIIIIIIIIIME CRIIIIIIISIIIIIIIIIS!

You have 1.5 seconds of sample time.. all source samples used played one after the other must go for a total of no longer than 1.5seconds.. please include something like that at the start of the file so that we can hear where your sounds came from :)

You may of course resample the original samples, provided you aren't making looped waveforms..

Hardware only, since as mentioned.. you could turn it into looping waveforms and such and then basically make 1000000 hours of samples out of the 1.5seconds..

You have say.... 2 weeks from now. check what time/date this post was made to figure out when that is.. dont wanna confuse people with timezones and such.

Get out your electron microscopes and start wanking.... err I mean chopping!!

What exactly would stop me doing that in hardware? :)

No seriously, I'll see what I can do this weekend

EDIT: Sticky plz

"breakin bollocks" questions :) :
any hardware is allowed to find samples(synths etc)or just we can find them by found "sounds"(vynil, cassettes, youtube etc)? not only SP samplers allowed?
thanx

Sure, you could technically do that if you had the right kinda hardware.. but dont!!!! :P
Most people here don't have the kinda hardware needed to loop up single waveforms from samples I think...

Ella - you can make your samples from whatever you want... just remember that the sum of all the original source samples has to be no more than 1.5seconds

One thing you are alllowed to use a computer for

(well 2 OK)

- To load all your samples one after another on a track in an audio editor, to check the total time of the samples.

- To record a final version of the track for uploading. (no editing once it's recorded though)

Hehehe just about every sampler can create instruments out of very short loops, just the "phrase sampler" type usually can't. I've attended some one hour tracker compos, where you get a samplepack and have to do something with it within one hour, using a tracker (sort of oldschool sample-sequencer software). Looping was essential there for creating lotsa instruments out of the provided samples, which were seldomly larger than maybe 500kB in size altogether.

Since I'm a smartass I found a workaround though - do the "looping" manually in the sequencer, with fast retriggering of 64th or even 128th notes haha

a short "brp" sound could end up like brp brp brbrbrbrbrb bree briii broooo brp brp *boomchak chikachikaboomchak*

yep, just about every rack sampler.. some of the workstation type samplers too... most people here dont use that sorta stuff though.

sure you could technically get around the limitations by sequencing short bits really quickly in succession.. but the point of the limits are to see what you can do within certain boundaries.. otherwise it isn't a challenge :)
