reducing pop and click

so what are yalls technics on reducing pops and clicks from your vinyl samples. i used to kinda like that sound, but sometimes its just to much. especially on 45s. i think since its spinning faster the imperfections are amplified because they are so close together.(just a theory) but anyways, any suggestions?

does cleaning the vinyls with something help? if so what do you use?

Hot water & a soft cloth- then I use a cup or glass to put the rec on to dry on both sides- other than that you need the heavy artillery of super-duper computer plugins to do sonic microsurgery-

yea i tried buy a digital copy on zune and the sound quality was rediciously drastic. the digital format will not due. the vinyl was so much fuller the beat didnt even sound the same with the mp3 sampled. ill just try to find a good vinyl copy, or maybe ill get a heavy artillery of super-duper computer plugins and do sonic microsurgery...
or just look for the vinyl.

Just to clarify http://www.gemm.com/ is an online port for peeps & shops to sell their (mostly) records- as in VINYL WAX ! Probably the world's best for that in fact.

Another trick is- sometimes if you bag a stereo sample the offending clicks are more noticeable on one side & not the other- so you just identify the good side & take that.

I know there's a trick with Photoshop that completely removes clicks and pops and few guys even went deeper to remove certain instruments and voices. It takes awhile but the results are DOPE. I'll have to get back with you on this though, it was in a thread at mpc-forums. I'll post up the link soon.

send it to me and ill run it through the waves plugins noise remover hehehe...sounds corny but the damn thing actually works. ive used it a couple times...
Boom zap on my page was a record i had to run through it cause there were too many clicks all over. def wish i just had a better copy though

i use the cool edit crackle and pop filter.

I record my sample into sp, then export to computer, filter it with cool edit then load it back into the 404, its awesome.

its also super rad to eq your samples on an amp before sampling them.

as far as cleaning your vinyl, i've heard that 'Armor All' works. i haven't tried it myself yet because i have an unopened bottle of vinyl cleaner my pops gave me.

another option on the software side is Izotope RX - which can run as standalone or plugin....
