hey, im just a new lurker from Western Australia, just got the myspace set up after knocking the first mixtape on the head, its loose as fuck. Only had the 404 for a month or so, but been playing music sporadically for years.

just thought i'd drop a link below in my sig and see what heads think.

brutal critisism please... brutal but constructive.

peace

mixtape track 1- would be a great mixtape intro..but for me it goes on a bit too long. chopping it off after about 50~ sec would be perfect.

I like your samples, sonic textures and your overall vision.

fav: noddy's banger,

I'd suggest thinking of your song in terms of segments...chorus, verse, bridge, transitions. even if its just instruments, it makes for much more dynamic tracks. the drum programming gets a little chaotic for my tastes...in my opinion, with this type of music, chaos/non-4/4 beats can work, but you still need something to keep your listener's head nodding. Anchor to something concrete while exploring the abstract. this point can't be understated. keep up the good work!

yeah thanks for the feedback, i'm really living in a bit of a vacuum here in my town so i've got no 'elders' to watch and collaborate with to learn tricks and techniques. Guess i need to get some more connections.

Anyone else got any thoughts on what is essentially a months work?

also bump.

wonky valentine and mixtape track1 are repetitive and suffer from feeling too long. monochromatography and noddy's banger are nice. i like the accent as well. spliff dub sounds unfinished, you could definitely take that to another level. you don't necessarily need anyone around to show you how to make this music, just keep listening, keep practicing, asking questions here, and use the forum search, there is a ton of info buried here.

sweet, noted. I'm definately still getting used to living with loops for hours/days on end and so having someone tell me that things are too long/repetitive seems pretty important.

Thanks for the feedback

EDIT - if you like that emcee he is an old friend of mine and his main project can be found here http://www.myspace.com/vocalcontrolgroup
