I've been seeing a lot of peeps using Bandcamp too- the truth is there are many options to post post out there. Prolly a few new sites started as I was typing this- now Google just dropped Google Buzz... it all makes me want to get a log cabin & a cassette 4 track- I'm really loving Soundcloud though! Love that you can embed the tunes almost anywhere- I first found out about SC on the forums here- I know alot of peeps treat Myspace now like it has Aids- had to laugh when I seen the homey Statik dump his page, check it:

LOL @ Statik Selektah cancelling his myspace. I feel like doing it all the time. The whole online music promotion thing has turned into a wasteland, every once in a while you will find a diamond but you have to dig thru gallons of shit to find it...and the fans realize this so the promotion of yourself online is really completely pointless unless you have real world fanbase that looks for you online. That said, a lot of these newer sites are cool. Bandcamp, Sound Cloud and Tumblr have some elegant layouts and good features, def going to check them out since I have more or less abandoned myspace, and reverb nation is just one big advertisement for itself lol

i deleted mine. i always do. it just gets like this. you get on myspace you get some plays. but after a while the hype dies out unless its a thirteen year old girl in the mirror radio hit! lol then you get people on there who are like oh i flipped that better than you. then you show up at there front door with a shovel..uhm i mean you delete it and you figure out how dumb it really is.

Not for nothing- it's a great idea to pick a domain name- ONE THAT YOU'LL KEEP FOREVER- and register it. It's cheaper than OE and you can always point your domain to whatever ever.
Keep in mind domain registration is totally separate from hosting- IOW you can register whatever.com at http://www.godaddy.com/ for pennies and simply (via control panel) point it to your myface, Reverbation, Spacebook, Rumblr, HerbPress SHIT you can even "point' it to a Google search of your name- or a google search of "Fuck you I'm hot" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&clie ... f&aqi=&oq=
or a search of "me and my sp" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&clie ... f&aqi=&oq=
If you keep a consistent domain it doesn't matter "what's under" it- a lotta groups be registering a domizzy, than "pointing" it to free Tumblrblog or Bandcamp site- that's my 3 cents
