Then I listened closer to others of your tracks and found similar examples.

I hardly call that beatmaking - on a sampler.

On decks spun live i do.

I didn't want to say this - but as you have used more beats lifted directly from vinyl -on this album - they really show that your own drum programming has not progressed beyond your first album. The first two of which i like.

Would have liked it if you could name the track yu lifted but it seems you don't want to.

what happend to "keeping it real?"

With all due respect,your criticism miss the point.I think that beat tape was mad original and who cares about the drum programming??
Real hiphop is about creativity not how well a beat has been put together,it's the idea behind the beat tape that should be evaluated and that was tight!
And I'm sure that the next beat tapes to come will be as creative but with even better programming.
I might be wrong which I hope I am but your critic seems fueled by negativity.

I hear you crowman... I was a music major the year I went to college and I used to dislike the simple loop based stuff. But ive learned to appreciate it. There are some cats who are just lazy and wak and just want to make beats just to look cool or make money or something. But LBJ loves what he does and is creative as his entire albums is like a long composition that tells a story and he does it well. We also have to keep in mind that hip hop originated from spinning breaks back and forth on 2 turntables. Modern day hip hop production is just an evolution of that. Its not all about how skillfully you cut up and rearrange your samples (even though I thank thats something every producer should be able to do... and makes me more interested in listening usually) But its about catching a vibe. Music is communication LBJ is communicating his story to us through his music and I think its brilliant. Just my 2 cents

If you make music it's always easy to tear someones beats apart technically, but in the end it's about the vibe it gives a person. Some of my favorite songs are loops and I had no idea until I started looking for breaks and found the originals, if it sounds nice do that shit.

Yes ya right track 20 is a straight drum loop,but with me playin live bass on it!!track 7,12 are also straight loops but choped up!and played live not sequenced.If you knew what the origanal were then you would realize there chopped up!alot of producers fuck up great loops by over chopping thats what so great about the 404 its makes you keep it simple!
All my tapes are straight 404 and nothing else!I share my tapes not to impress anyone or get any rewards all this shit is from the heart!
If you think that im not "keeping it real" wich is a played out term anyways,Go tell that to J DILLA ,MADLIB,RZA,MF-doom.All those greats have done straight loop jacks as well!its about a vibe and feelin the loop produces!
And why does my drum programing have to progress?The greatest lesson that the 404 will teach you is to keep it simple!Straight up fuck the rules and all that other hiphop keepin it real bullshit!!Its about havin fun and usin what you got,If i wanna use straight loops then thats that "straight loops style."If i wanna use crazy movie samples and bugged out shit then thats that"crazy movie bugged out style."

Lord Beatjitsu speaks the truth, and you can hear the love for his craft in his beatapes. 1,2, and 3 are all dope. He trains and keeps swordz sharp. He flips the 404 with passion. Listen all haterz this aint about jockin, its about insiration, and Beatjitsu inspired me to cop a 404 just from listening to his first beatape. Even if its a looped up sample it still has a aura to it and a vibe-- a place in time if you will. damn, i'd been workin wit cruel summer too. i listened to most everything, it's really fun. my only complaint is the time stretchin/pitch (and i know this is rolands fault, not yours); i just can't handle a lot of that warble. i'm currently lookin into different comp apps to do this well. anyway, nice look. oh and weed is not just a plant it's a food, oil, gas, rope, cloth, etc... i think the reason it's illegal is becuase of the oil companies myself.

download the demo of fl studio. you could time stretch the sample in there and pitch it up then export it as a wave.

you need to think about whether your friends truly deserve to be in jail or not, not just accept blindly that they should be punished because they didn't obey the ones in power. Freedom to act of our own will is something we are fast losing.
