i selected "work with a computer" because that's mainly what i do....but every now and then i'll make something strictly with the 404 (usually hip-hop beats)

mpc is a computer right?? it has a decent sized motherboard + ram + rom + internal floppy/zip drive....

I voted with computer but I don't really use it with the computer. I don't use it alone either though.

When recording i use it mainly as an effects box/mixer/preamp and then for playing live i use it for well...everything!

it pretty much depends on what i want the get out of this little box.. For a clean mix i use software based plugins in my DAW.. for that ruffness i use a tape cassette recorder..

dont really see the point of using it with a computer... with a mpc or another sampler is another story. at the moment i have my nord 2x rack going into my sp-404 so i use it mainly as an effect box and sometimes to sample quick licks or chords which i then can polish further with the nice fx of the 404.

I gotta use with a computer, that's how I track beats. But I don't use a computer to chop and load samples, if I wanted that type of editing I would use Acid pro 6.

combos - recorded into pc, some chopping there, then out to SP, more chopping & fx. these days, my arrangements on the SP, recorded back to pc. this will change, i'm sure, as i tend to keep varying fings.
