damn that's awesome. i tried to do something like that a while back with some shiny giftwrap stuff by poking holes with a needle, but a month or so later it began to peel off and look crappy.

Looks cool so far Drewdank, but I wonder how you're going to wrap it around the sides and keep it in position. Doesn't it hinder the access to the pads a bit? Good job on getting the holes right, I'd never be able to do that so accurate. Did you take off the plate to mark where to cut out the holes?

Yours looks so disco, kel, I think I'd be all paralyzed if I was sitting in front of such a glamorous SP :o

i took off my plate and i cut where the holes are with an exacto knife. i am going to cut it more and have it wrap around the plate i peeled off some layers of cardboard to make it thinner. and yeah the pads are fine

once the cardboard has been molded into place, a few layers of a spray clear glaze would probably give it a longer life and help hold its shape.

Haven't thought about that. Right now I'm too anxious to screw up (in a double sense ;))my SP to do this to my machine, though.

it'll be really tight around the sides cuz when you bend the edges around the plate, the plate clamps it shut. you might not even need to glue or tape the sides.
