Studio Superstitions Video

Post by HxC »

Hi. Hope everybody is having a happy New Year. I'm going to make a Youtube video about studio superstitions. Like for instance when I'm bouncing something to disc I NEVER turn on or off any lights or any other equipment while it's bouncing- nothing would probably happen but it' a studio superstition !

I once knew a girl who thought it was 'bad luck' to smoke weed & a cigarette at the same time- that's not a studio superstition but an example of what I'm looking for but it's gotta be on this music shit!

I want to hear YOUR studio superstitions- anything that you do that not based on logic, but we spend so much time doing this that we're bound to do something quirky or mystical even though we know it's not fact based. Anything with gear, digging wax, SPs whatever.

Post your superstudio stition and I'll shout you out in my video and flash a picture from your myspace or whatever- will only be able to put like 3 other superstitions so the best ones will get in & I'll post when I've got enough. This is no corporate thing- just a fool with a computer who likes posting videos (me) so it's all for fun & promotion. Throw down !

A lotta heavy (daily) blunt smokers become cigarette smokers sadly- cuz they get addicted to the tobacco, then if they go through a little drought, sure enough...

It's one thing if it's an all-natural Fanta Leaf, but the stogies you buy at 7-11 are of the lowest quality. Ya ever think- what other product do you buy and immediately dump 95 % of it in the trash??

Don't get me started with the bliz wraps either- can you say "cheap cigar paper sprayed with even cheaper artificial flavor" ?

proud blunt smoker (swisher sweets) but not a cigarette smoker.

as far digging i always look for covers with your 60/70's glam gal on the cover. if anyone has picked up any klaus wunderlich records you know what i mean.

(yes i p/u his records too cus it says "wunder"...geeky yes i know)

also dig for records near the year i was born. -> 1982

when i used to do dj battles i used make sure that my nails were cut trim so that they wouldnt get caught on the fader.

I take a tan in the full moonlight without my hat and indulge the rays, then smoke a fat spliffy and hit up the SP and create an enchanting epic piece. Some shit I normally wouldn't do. Strangely if I moon-tanned with my hat on, I don't get the full effect no matter how good the weed was.

sometimes i go back into the studio and HAVE TO make a complete piece in the fastest time possible. like, under an hour to have a nice, full beat with a lot of sections. i'll literally throw stuff around - BLAM! BLAM! i do that to just keep myself working and not getting too hung up on being precious.

i ALSO really need to sort of have something to look forward to. so if i buy 5 records (smelling all of them now, ^^ of course  ), i may listen thru them all, and sample the best stuff from a couple, but i HAVE to have something good that i just leave one of the records for the next time i go back into the studio. i can spend days just thinking about that little phrase i'm gonna glaum and how i'm gonna flip it and what i'll add and stuff, so when i go back to it i have a lot of fun.

OH - i also won't sample guitar parts, cuz i should always be able to play them and feel like i'm cheating if i sample that stuff (which is weird, cuz i can play a few instruments and don't feel like i'm cheating when i sample those - lol)
