Small knob mod. I put my 404 in my backpack all of the time and the knobs would snag on the flaps, this mod puts the knobs more flush with the body. I got the knobs at radio shack on the cheap.

thats exactly what i plan on doin with mine! (once i finally get it)..

did you cut the knob shafts down at all? I was thinkin of going reeeeaallly flat, with just enough length that u can grab em, but yours seem low enough already.

i did not cut the shafts at all. I think if the knobs were any more flush they would loose some of the functionality. I just pulled the old knobs off, put these on and tightened the small set screw to keep them in place.

great stuff man, good to see people unafraid of modding their gear to improve functionality

this really ought to decrease the chances of knob breakage in your backpack

I see that the modding business is taking off. I really dig the knobs idea and the result! :D

Good job, it looks very functional to me. 8)

I think it looks better this way too.

i really like the tall skinny roland knobs (on the 303, 505, and the dif ones on the 404) but it looks like you've got the shorter, rugged knobs from guitar stomp boxes - which are totally great. i like the deep divots in there. very cool.

they are cool, you cant wang stuff up as fast with the new knobs but it's cool, i use my 303 for that. I did the christmas battle with the new knobs. Like i said, radio shack has them in a long skinny pull out drawer for cheap. I did file the outtermost edge of the knob so it would not rub on the knob slots. They work well!
