I always hear a lot of talk about the vinyl sim compressor. I'm sure that I'm kind of overusing it when my beats come out a little too loud, when and how do you use it?

i dont really notice the vinyl sim making my stuff loud as much as it kinda makes everything sorta even out... i play my esx into the 404 and turn on the vinyl sim with the popping low and other knob up a lot... i slow down a lot of my samples with my esx and then doing the effect in the 404 the way i do it kinda drags stuff out even more... its a cool effect... i try and keep the snaps and pops to a minimum though..

Vinyl Sim is one of my favorite and most-used effects. What I like the most about it is it's compressor, because I think it's more efficient than effect 12.

It's good for making your drums and samples blend in with one another, you just have to set the volume of each sample so that it fits best.

i think vinyl sim works wonders for compressing everything at once, but when compressing single drum hits or stabs i think 12 sounds better.

i don't see why it would be, but is the vinyl sim on the SX different than the original 404?

i really never use vinyl sim that much. maybe because i like to tweak each sound individually. i've never tried to use it on a finished loop.

i've only had my laptop, my sp and a litte zoom h2 mic at my parents house for the holidays and i've been recording stuff for our new ep and the vinyl sim compressor was pretty useful for recording vocals. maybe it was the mic i've been using because thats not really made for recording vocals but with the compression on it gave everything a roomy but very punchy feel.
