I've been looking around a long time for just the right sampler for me, and think I've settled on the 404sx. I have heard people say that it has a steep learning curve. Is this true? if so whats so difficult? This will be the first sampler I've worked with. I currently have a Kaossilator, Electribe Ea-1, Novation controller and record in Logic 8. ]

nah, if you can work the hardware you already have, the learning curve won't be steep at all

SPs in general are pretty simple to operate. easy to learn, but the simplicity opens up lots of options to master it your own way

You can pretty much master the thing in a week, if you read the manual ;)
The manual is really, really helpful, and it will answer most of your questions.
You can download it in the SPI part of the forums, if you wanna check it out beforehand.

I know, it's the original 404 manual, but there aren't that many differences between the old and the new.

well the differences shouldnt be so much to where it makes it a different machine. the learning curve is steep if you dont read the manual or ask for help or search the forums. good price. good machine.

i think you'll be fine with it, i bought my 404 a couple of days ago and i understand most of it already...keep in mind too that it's my first piece of hardware! but like everybody said, make sure you read the manual well, i started reading it before i even got the system and by the time i got it, i had all of the basics covered
