How Lo-Fi is TOOO Lo-Fi, how RAW do you get???

I personally could just listen to distorted artifacts as long as they have some sort of rhythm. Could be recorded to cassette,vhs or fucking wax cylinder for all I care. Do some of you out there think there is a level of dirt where shit is TOO Dirty though?

sometimes a lo-fi's high end can give me a headache when on my headphones. like that really high frequency sound. its like its biting my head

Yeah it's mostly the highs that make it so off-putting. Or when the noise is louder than the music. I like some noise artists but even then the crazy highs still ruin it for me.

Word, on my Raw shit I usually roll off everything above 16k. You are right those highs can be piercing.

This is true, it was -45 with the windchill the past couple days. That's cold enough to freeze exposed skin in a matter of minutes. Are you from Canada/the prairies?

i don't think that anything can ever be considered too lo-fi. afterall we're creating art and there are no rules to that .

but there are some vague "guidelines" and we can choose to keep within these guidelines or occasionally step outside of them, then there are those of use who just ignore everything we know about music .

i've been experimenting making some lo-fi ambient noise recently and i try to roll off the higher frequencies too. sometimes when i'm working i create feedback loops and if you're not careful those things can really tear your eardrum out.

ive been working with feedback loops exclusively to make pads and synth sounds the last couple of days... ive made some crazy ass noises

definitely a forgotten technique since the digital world took over. feedback is an instrument! (if you can tame it...)
