a label with wich i have a musical project ask me to find a PR - promotion agents...what is this in reality? some money-takers-and-bye-bye?what is their role? anyone have experience on this?i can imagine that is not for free...

A label asking the artist for PR contacts is kind of backwards.
Check through the pages of your local music trade publications and you should see ads for plenty of them. Usually these folks have long relationships with college radio, music press, non-music press, etc.. and they can boost the profile of an artist- get their CD reviewed in known publications, publicize shows, create relevant press releases, etc..

In fact any artists you see written about in a 'glossy' has prolly had the benefit of pro PR. With that said there is alot you can do for self since the internet & social media have broken down some of the walls, but there is still a benefit to pro PR- best to see a list of their accomplishments.

I think he meant that usually a label comes towards you with a PR agent instead of the other way around. At least that's what I got from magazines and stuff.

Yes that's what I meant. PR usually falls under the umbrella of what a label would take care of. It's kind of like a label asking you to research CD duplication & cover art pricing. That would be like you asking the label for drum sounds and sequencer tips.

But.. sometimes a label is nothing but a single music fan with a lot of resources. There are a gang of books, magazines & websites that guide, help and direct a startup label. "Drug dealer" labels typically start out like this.

Let us know how it turns out- tell 'em you'll research that for them if they agree to release the next SP-Forums mixtape on wax.

this label is kind of indie rock/post rock/ambient stuffs, they're interested in my other indie/electronic project, so they wanted me in their site, with a profile, some tracks and a myspace a year ago.
now they ask me this PR thing 'cause i'm lazy to publish/make concert/develop myspace etc.
if it's not cheap i will not accept this PR shit.
