New to the sp forum..
I'm not that all great at production but I used to have both the mpc 2000xl and the sp 404.. but sold them out due to personal reasons..
But I wanted to start again .
I'm really used to the mpc but when I had the sp 404 it was some what frustrating since i was so adapted to the auto chop that mpc has and the sequence itself..

If you were to recommend, what would you start from again? The good old mpc that I'm used to a bit or the sp 404, starting off fresh?
I'm trying to use just my turntable, sp/mpc and a multitrack recorder. No computers, if possible.

I know, it's a stupid question, but i dont wanna waste money on equipment if i dont see the potential in me.

Welcome to the boards. It depends on what your after. Shit ton of fx and a simple straightforward interface, and lower price is all SP-404. Powerful sequencing, autochop, better pads ride with the mpc. Just all in what your looking for.

i think u may learn more w/ an SP... only because it forces u to dig into what u got versus giving u tons of options to flip shyt with... i have both an sp and mp and this tbh, ive learned a ton with my sp...

SP for fx and resample and use mpc as the main sequencer.

sp 505/606 = Your middle ground... You should def look into those 2

I own sp-303, sp-404, and mv8800. The 404 is the BEST, fast results easy fx...
I don't even use the sequencer, i just have my stuff looped and resample it with claps, snares, and kick drums on it. After a while it is so fast (the 404) that you can not imagine yourself without it!
p.s. I have owned a mpc 1000. It is great for sequencing, but $900 for a sequencer is STEEP!

i'll never get rid of my mpc, but if it's one or the other for the rest of my life it's the 404 no question.
