How would you use them together ? I think i have an idea of how they would work together but if anybody could give me some pointers or let me know how you use them together that would help.

i have an mpc1000 and an sp303 too.
until now i didnt use them together, but one useful way could be to use sp303 fx whit the mpc's outs...if i remeber well the mpc2000 (and the 2000xl too) cannot resample (i mean to record his internal samples, like the SP: in the akai world resampling means to change samples frequency)...

So basically just use it for FX and to resample sounds and send them to the mpc bank pads right ?

You can use the 303 as a midi piece slaved to the MPC. Then you just certain pads on the MPC to trigger certain pads on the 303 and you got the best of both worlds right there.

a good way to use them (imo) would be, like already suggested, to run the mpc into the 303 or run the 303 into the mpc.

remember the 303 has really nice fx but the mpc is a better sequencer. if you are comfortable chopping on the 303 then you can do all your basic sampling and chopping there and you can use the 303 to quickly get down ideas that you can run into the mpc then for further sequencing. a cool thing to do is to make loops, with or without the sequencer, on the 303 and then record them into the mpc where you can tidy them up and sequence the shit into a full beat.

if you're running the mpc into the 303 you will more than likely be using the 303 for its fx.

although it looks like he just upgraded to the 404 (finally) jel (of anticon) rocked an mpc and a 303 for a long ass time... he had an older mpc and replaced it a while ago too... not that i have a tip or trick but he seems to trigger all his long background samples with the 303/404 and play "live" drums on the mpc... i only say "live" because he seems to trigger loops and sequences sometimes and not just straight one shots... good stuff

hell yeah those jel videos are great!

i think it's cool that you can trigger the sp sounds on the 404. i can't speak for the 303 i don't know, but i think it sucks that you can't resample (or sequence) that way....

Thats some good info Frantic thanks good lookin out.

I was messing with both of them together today. I really like how they work together.

Thanks everybody.

I know this forum is for SPs but a lot of peeps on here have much knowledge about music production/equipment/mixing/mastering/ just audio in general.
Very smart humble people on here I love that.

I was on Futureproducers.com before and most of those dudes are real cocky and think they know everything.
The SP Forum beats the sh!t out of that forum.

Syncing them together so the 303's slaved to the mpc works well for me, but I prefer just sampling into the 303 to add some fx and then resampling into the mpc to chop and ect. Easiest method imo.

you can run the audio of the mpc out to the sp. do all your sequencing and chopping on the mpc, but you can put the vinyl sim on and get the mp to sound more raw that way. that's what my boy phd does with the 1000+303. no midi. you can find his beats on myspace: dj phd

So, I just picked up a MPC 2000XL
I also have a 303..
how do most of you connect them together? via the 303 Midi In > into the MPC's Midi In?

I'm reading over the manual and trying to figure out how to get sample out of the 303 and into the MPC..tips?

the easiest way, i would imagine, is through midi.

MPC's midi out --> SP-303's midi in.

But you've got to change the pads on your MPC to trigger the notes/pads on the SP-303 correctly though. I'm not exactly sure since I do not own either of them, but the manuals should help.
