how is the abilty to chop samples in the 404??

i want to get something where i can sample but i was wondering how is the ability to chop samples on the 404.

i know most people probably will use a computer program to chop up their samples but i don't like fucking with computers.

It's really pretty easy and intuitive. Just ply the sample then hit the [MARK] button once to set the start point then once more to set the end point. From there use can use the knobs to make fine adjustments. Once your happy then you can resample that slice to a new pad then erase the mark points on the original and repeat the process for the next slice. Sounds more time consuming than it really is. You can have a break chopped up in no time really.

the chopping on the 404 is very simple and accurate. No visual editing, its all up to your ears. Some see visual editing as a great feature, some see it as a distraction. the 404 is gonna really gonna test your skill.

I'm currently using a Sampletrak,and like the 303/404 series,I have to chop by ear and at first it was difficult but in no time I got pretty good at it and yes,I think that's easier than using a computer editor or an MPC and it's really fast.
I wouldn't do it in any other way...

It's ok. It's not that great, even though I'm pretty precise and tuning with the knobs is for the perfection.

Still, I like the mpc, because it has a screen and funtions like 'chop into 8 sections' or so.

To sum it up: Basically everything is possible, but it takes longer and is 'harder to learn'.

true dat!! SPs pretty good fo chopping things up!! U can get accurate chops by fine tuning them by changing the start/end points
