my son is 4 years old also. on the ads it say 8 years and older, but my son enjoys jammin my sp-555 so im sure he can have fun with this machine. shoot i say the sooner we get them started the better, right?
on my sampler little Jimi already knows the use of the hold button, changing banks, volume control and little things like that. he also wants to learn to scrath and he loves rapping.
i actually helped him produce a song once by
-letting him play with some drum sounds as i recorded them.
-i found a half decent loop point then looped the drums.
-then i let him play some one-shots or synths
-then loop some of those
-then we have a beat and he throws a freestyle over it and i record it all
it accidentially got erased or i would have posted it. but im sure we will do some more.
its alot of fun and we both enjoy spending "studio" time together

i watch sometimes youtube videos with my (first) son pablo, and i usually filter pc sound with sp303 or sp505 so it's amazing for him turno on/off the "ext source" button to see what happens. the lights on the sps capture childs attention (and us attention too)...

Ha! My First Sampler (anyone remember My First Sony?) that's pretty cool. Kids these days have some awesome toys.
