Username changes are now possible!

Since I'm getting several requests a week from people that like their their username changed I've decided to enable the option for everyone to change it themselves.

You can do this by going to the User Control Panel, selecting Profile on the left side of the screen and finally click Edit account settings. Or just click here. You are now able to change your username. Remember to use it the next time you log in, or you won't be able to.

A word of warning though:
Your username together with your avatar is the way people recognize each-other on the forum. By changing it you may confuse people who you are. It's like changing your face in the real-world.
Also, by changing your username to something new your old name becomes available for registration again so someone else can basically hijack your identity. If this happens contact me (marc (at) sp-forums (dot) com), but it's best to prevent this by not changing your username at all.

If you do decide to change your username though, I recommend putting your old username in your signature for a while so people can still identify you.

Yeah, it's also useful, assuming you've ever won a battle to do this, so a mod can add your new username next to the old one in the 'hall of fame' Past Masters topic as well.

Am I missing something? The Username part isn't editable for me.

You're right, it looks like I didn't set it up correctly at first. Can you try again and see if it works now?
