hey guys, so I plan to go shopping tomorrow. I'm a broke ass fool so I'm gonna have to get a new flash card (old one broke) and something to record my beats with. I have a MAC ibookg4 and it has no outs so I'm thinking of just getting a cheap ass 4-track recorder.

1) What's a good flash card?
2) Is it advisable to record on a 4 track or should I just buy an adapter for my sp and connect it to my mac and record on garage band?

good flash cards: sandisk, kingston, and look around thru the 'search' for other brands, and read this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1424

recording: i recommend a firewire or usb in/out box (m-audio, for ex) and recording digitally. there's way more wiggle room, and 4-tracks, while I love them, can cause more problems than solutions.

good luck.

I've always used the same 2 sandisk cards and never had a problem.

For recording, I use a tascam dp02cf. The sound quality is really decent. There's USB out so everything I record can be sent to my computer. And the eq on it is pretty legit.

But I would still look into computer recording before buying anything...

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I ended up just getting a Roland Cakewalk Audio Interface (not much but I don't plan to do live band recordings or anything like that) and recording on my Garage Band (I have the old version but it works fine). I'll probably end up getting a 4 track just for the hell of it later on.

Next up is the flash card. I swear those little bastards are damn expensive.
