as opposed to gate or loop? if youre using a longer sample with the step edit function i believe you can adjust the setting to play whatever part of the sample you want.. there is a video out there i saw where someone used a sample in this way and cut and placed drum hits where they wanted them using the step mode and only one drum loop sample to make the drum track (rather than using bass snare highhat etc as seperate sounds)ellaguru wrote:other dummie questions (only about esx-1):
1-can you resample patterns with ? yea you can resample a pattern to the memory then load it to a pad...
2-can you use the sliced samples directly to record sequences/patterns from the slice part instead of to put every slice in the sample parts? you can play them live and might be able to record/sample you playing them live but you cant insert them into a pattern without doing the load to pad thing...
playing with stuff running through he audio in http://www.youtube.com/user/mryat#p/u/26/1DurrSd4tSs this person is famous for the tribe use... they have a lot of good videos..
edit: i just used the slice steps to record a new sample playing them live through tapping the pads... i tried that first then tried turning on the metronome and couldnt figure out how to get it to turn on (didnt use the manual and have never ever used the metronome) ill try again later if you want
3-how key parts work:old school (st224, mpcs etc), or sort of pitch shift fx like (sp505)? in other words: do key part stretch or not the sample?
im a little confused on this one but the pitch function is rad just by turning the knob.. there is a step edit thing too and i dont use it so i dont have anything to say about it... i just never have messed with it...
4-i asked you yet this, but: how to "swing" sample in pads when you record patterns in order not to fall exactly in the pads? other than how its been mentioned before i dont know how to do this... there is a swing adjustment but that doesnt change where they fall just how rigid they sound when they fall...
5-can you use metronome "as always" (play+rec etc)? can you use this when you are working in the slice mode? the manual just says something about how its useful for live recording.. i would imagine that it will work in the slice mode if youre recording live.. then again im not certain of it..
6-do you have only "one shot" mode for samples?
thanx
this is the video i was talking about its not quite how i remembered it but its still cool what he did here...
