yeah i always use mines as well... or ill do something like a 32 bar beat (the max bars in a seq on the 606) and play the drums str8 up over it so that there isnt any consistency... worth a shot tho... BUT I WILL NEED SOME POINTERS!!!

Yeah, you got it IIIII. Start with resampling yourself playing a hi-hat rhythm, resample a bass over that with the eq rolling hi and mids off so they won't fight with the kick. Resample a snare into that on the 2 and 4 and an eq rolling off the low and maybe a slight boost in the hi or a slight reduction in the mid band to make it snappy. Now you can resample your kicks in on the 1 and 3 and you'll have your base loop. Now the fun part is layering your instrument samples on top of this, you can be more creative with your resampling. For example adding like overdrive effect to an acoustic guitar sample to make it sounds like an amplified electric, then resampling lo-fi effect on that sample to give it that sp1200 kinda sound and finally doing like a hi-pass eq so it gives the bass and kick all the bottom end space. After a few weeks of playing with the effects you'll find how to make weird noises out of once recognizable samples in a few minutes and all the layers before the last one become your alternate parts in the final beat. That's the definition of a microwave beat, that's how dibiase can throw in a change up in the track using the same samples but a completely new arrangement and with the sounds tweaked a little more.

Sounds like a nice challenge, but I guess this means its down to true human timing now.

I'm going to try this though. Of course, if you rehearse properly, it should be possible.

Yes, no sequencer. I know you guys can play a beat with out a metronome or sequencer.

Hmm, but we can cheat easily with this down to the point of where it would almost be as if we were using a sequencer.

Only thing you'd miss out on is being able to throw in a good quantize to fix your timing errors.

By the way, you meant Microwave beat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_CDECYVYAI

Wow... If you guys don't know how to make some loops without a sequencer you might as well give it up and send me you SPs.
