So, I finally got a 303..after 12 years I finally got h.e.r... for a mere $25! --and she works great! cheeaaa...

Yes, I am new to the machine and new to the forum..

I hate asking the basic questions because i know they have been discussed already in another thread..WHICH, btw I did check out the "SP Intelligence" section..and etc..etc..it was helpful but-i'm-still-stuck.

Basically, what I am trying to do is record a sample into either Garage Band or Audacity (I have both, which ever does the job is fine) so that I can slow the sample down (I tried to slow the sample down on the 303 and it sounded mad choppy). One gent on YouTube suggested...

"Try resampling your pitched sample with vinyl effect and it will sound dirty, but with the vinyl and pitch it will sound a little more like it is supposed to be that way."

I figure I am going to need to know how to do this down the line anyways so how is it done??

Specs:

iBook G4
MAC OSx / Version 10.4.11
(1) Stereo headphone plug to dual RCA plugs adapter cable

I also, attached some screenshots of the current settings of my soundcard and garage band..

I also have a M-Audio Fast Track Guitar/Mic Interface that my friend left at my house..though, if it is possible connect my 303 to the comp without it tell me..cause there is a shortage in it i think.

connect the rcas onto the outs of your 303 and then that into the line in on your computer.

Did that, the only sound I get is from the internal microphone..picking up the audio played from the monitors..its not picking up the audio up from the headphone jack..

I know! it was so crazy...I had been on ebay hardcore..seeing them go for around $180-250.......so just out of curiosity i was like, lemme check craigslist..and sure enough...this guy was selling all his bros dj equipment...called him up..he had a roland TR...forget the model # and the BOSS...he said $25 and you take them both home...I felt like I was ripping dude off...but I happily paid..

@thebastardagent:

i have recorded from my sp-303 dumped into garageband in the past. all i used was a y-cable(headphonejack-rca) from the sp-303 -> line in/mic in on my macbook. and for settings you can try this out.

go to system preferences and click sound. you should have 3 tabs to choose from "sound effects", "input", "output" click input.

it should then say "choose a device for sound input" youre going to want to choose "line in audio line/in port"

then make sure input volume and output volume are on decent levels and mute is off.

also when you are in garageband click preferences audio/midi tabs.

audio output - built in output
audio input - built in input

hope this helps out.

No luck..

In my sound properties, I dont even see a ""line in audio line/in port" option...

also, I attached some screen shot of what I see on my comp..if tha thelps any..

I have an M-Audio FASTTRACK Guitar|Mic Recording Interface

Can I use that?

I hooked it up to my computer via the usb, my computer regonized, played the input/output settings...still nothing.

There is 3/4 input on the fast track, mic jack, and rca outputs..(which is what I have my 303 running out of now)

nothing..

what am I doing wrong???

Are you sure the rca outs are working on the 303? This could be why he was selling it for $25.
