just a couple cats off the top of my head who are completly changing hip hop and getting credit for HIP HOP. hip hop is always growing and will always continue to grow change etc. what a dumb argument that was haha.

i did a bad job of articulating my frustration. i never wanted to imply that hip hop was "dying" or "sucked" or be "hatin on it" just that i want more freakin SAGE FRANCISes in the world
those other guys are very talented and unique, but sage francis. fuck....
that guy truly comes at it sideways and totally separate from the rest of the pack.
also understand i like those guys specifically sage, aesop, el-p, mf doom
its just that when i went to amateur shows peoples idea of underground was just a reflection of the mainstream gangster club b/s. so thats probably made me jaded a bit, but whatever...
its just a genre no need to get all testy about it
after all, no one even mentioned those auto-tune cunts :D

Does Sage do his own beats too? I thought I remembered Alias from anticon doing production for him.

on older albums it was several people making beats.. i think the human death dance was all one person.. i could be wrong about that one though... ive seen him live a few times and he always performed with a laptop or had someone triggering a laptop

my girlfriend used to be sage's manager at epitaph and i can definately tell you he does not do his own beats. he sends a newsletter out saying he needs beats and picks them from the internet peeps. for human the death dance he also had odd nosdam and ant doin the beats. also he is not a true vegetarian... on the rock the bells tour my girlfriend peeked inside his burrito and there was chicken inside  . yeah he uses a laptop cuz he's on strange (no pun intended) terms with every producer he's ever worked with.

yea sage doesnt do his own beats but just the style of beats he chooses to rap over and the shit he talks about and his flow is why i was referring to him.

sage is acctually a very amazing rapper and is not over rated in anyway. his flow/rhymes and wordplay are unbelievable. his shit is intelligent/original and hilarious. the beats he chooses are amazing. MANY MANY MANY rappers think he is one of, if not the best technical rapper period.

whether or not, you like the sound of his voice etc. he is one of the best rappers out there and has been for sometime.

ps. the album you speak of is titled "Personal Journal's" which was released on anticon, his only release through anticon.

labels like anticon were some of the first to really start a movement of abstract hip hop. they definatly changed hip hop in alot of ways mang.

woops on the typo. i always have called it personal journeys for some reason.

i think sage and anticon are mad over-rated. that is my opinion. anticon haven't changed shit as they haven't released any groundbreaking music. that is just my opinion though.

sole - selling live water acctually won best hip hop album of the year on ughh.com the year it came out. themselves dropped mad shit that had a huge impact. personal journals made one of the hugest impacts for them. same with sole bottle full of humans. dude i could go on with "ground breaking" albums anticon put out.

i understand that it is your opinion, but because you think it, it does not make it so. anticon had a huge following till the whole def jux hate haha and still even after, had/has one. like it or not anticon made one of the biggest influential impacts on hip hop.

forgot to mention deep puddle dynamics. best collab ever.

and your opinion makes something so?

please get off your high horse. no offence but you're starting to sound like a stereotypical anticon fan who think they were the saviors of hip-hop. ughh.com means nothing. nobody even buys from them because they are notorious for being cunts.

they weren't influential and they weren't ground-breaking. that is my opinion. i'm not saying it's a fact. that's just how i feel.

i actually like some of the stuff they put out. but that's it. i hate when things get overblown. they haven't left a very big impact on hip-hop at all.

if you like their stuff then that's great, i love some of the stuff they put out, but please don't try to shove your opinion down my throat and claim it as fact.

cool down hot sauce. i wasnt bashing your opinion nor was i trying to make you agree with mine. i said, like it or not they were some of the most influential. because they were. no matter what you or i say. (im not too into missy elliot but i cant say she didnt influnce the hip hop top 40 scene).

im on no high horse. im not speaking from my opinion only, i know alot of people who really like anticon. ive never met or heard any people talk anything bad about anticon nor disagree with them being influential.

you seem to have a bitter attitude towards anticon. so much you assume i am some sort of anticon fanatic. you are wrong. i dont have an anticon poster in my room or even a t shirt. i bought some of thier albums because they are really good albums.

ive never met any "stereotypical anticon fans" before man. just people who listen to different kinds of hip hop. no offense but its a ridiculous statement to imply some sort of cult movement for anticon's reputation as some sort of hip hop saviour, like some religious person pushing jesus onto everyone.

its just a hip hop label that made a new type of hip hop for its time. alot of people loved it and alot of people took it from where they left off. it opened alot of doors for hip hop and people went with it. regardless of you liking it it did change hip hop. just like def jux did.

so relax, im not trying to put you down or say you are some retard for not agreeing with me. im just stating that they did influence ALOT of people. i could care less if you like them.
