Hey that's actually a pretty nice feature. It saves copying a sample of say one part of a speech with an entire spoken sentence or vocal to multiple pads, freeing up space for more unique samples. (For rhythm purposes you will sometimes want to cut spoken phrases into pieces right, to make it fit... now you can pause... and play. I hope this gets recorded as automation though!!!! Does it?? )

everything pauses ... its an ALL STOP you click it again and it keeps playing from where it was rather than starting over... it might work on the resample tip but you could do that with the mark button... other than that not very needed dramatic all stop mid pattern/song im not really sure this is necessary... except to throw a "to the person driving the white cadillac your lights are on" into your mix... maybe there are some hidden gems that will pop up over time like on the old 404..
the shortcuts make it worthwhile for me..
on the old 404 if you press remain and one of the fx buttons did it put that fx on all samples in that bank? i would imagine so but i didnt know it did that...

i thought you could only change mfx with the knob on the 404?
not at all! that would be frustrating as hell, tryna hit a certain MFX # in a live situation
to select a MFX, you hold MFX and then hit the pad number of the effect you want (ie Pad 2 for Tape Echo). if your desired MFX is a number over 12, hit Vinyl Sim + MFX and then continue coutning as if Pad 1 was 13 (ie Pad 11 for BPM Looper)
this is how it works on my original SP-404 which I bought in 2005!
there's a new feature that stops all samples/patterns: Quickly press CANCEL four times.
wow... my 404 jus upgraded itself... i pressed cancel 4 times and guess what happend...?! such a dope new feature on my OLD 404 that I didn't knew yet...

hahahahaha.....I've been doing that since my 404 came outta the box.

Doesn't anyone who's been on this site for more than a few months find it odd that Mike Acosta lost his job at Roland and around the same time joined the site to participate but never did. Now magically Roland is releasing a 404sx which is just a glorified 404 with the sample loading program that was a sp-forums idea and Mike Acosta has made pre-loaded patterns and samples for it. Here's a tip, when you steal your ideas at least take the good one.....real pitch. I'm sure the new improved manual and work flow are based on all the work arounds within the pre-existing 303/404 designs we've all found and discussed. But who are we to be ungrateful, I mean they did give us free 404 face plates

555 has a sample loading program so i dunno about that
unless you mean sample loading inside the box itself
Yeah, but....if I'm not completely mistaken someone on this forum posted that idea for the 404 prior to the release of the 555. All I ever personally wanted was a program to allow me to export .WAV from my 303 to mem. card like the 404 firmware. In the face of billion dollar profits it's unacceptable for a company to not offer continual product support for popular merchandise. However I do believe people in the 20-35 year old range that are coming in to business ownership currently will take true customer support as well as sustainable production and expandable designs into account. Well executed business entails the consideration of all parties directly involved or by proxy and can only be achieved when everyone is on the same level of education with equal access to information.
