D-Beam, "Synth" button...?

In a photo of the 606, I think I saw a button under the D-Beam that says "Synth." But there's no synth in the 606, right...? So what does this button do?

it is a synth inside the 606. A relly cool mono synth. You trigger it and pitch is with the d-beam. It works like a theremin, except it is allway in pitch.. its actually really cool=)

Thanks; I finally downloaded the manual. The monosynth looks like the Step Modulator in the SP-808. Funny Roland doesn't mention in their 606 description that it has a synth built in.

Interesting all the different scales you can set the synth to play--Gypsy, Blues Mixolydian, etc. Do you set the key you're playing in, or the root note somehow...? Do you know if you can play the synth from an external keyboard via MIDI? I didn't see anything in the manual about that...Guess I have to work on my Theremin/D-Beam technique...

There's an editing page in the menu that lets you edit the synth's parameters. You can choose osc type, note range and scale, among other things.

You can play the synth from a midi keyboard if you wish, you just use the MFX 44/45 (one in each MFX slot) to get it to happen!

Personally, I reckon the D-beam playing has more character and originality.

+1 its killing it live! I was in a store and had to play some 606 synth, its fucking hot!
