Anybody ever use V-Link?

Post by HxC »

I know some of the Roland gear has it- like my 606, but I'm really curious to see if anyone's used it in the real world. It almost seems like some afterthought technology that Roland/Edirol doesn't still promote.

I could have sworn someone on this board got their 555 D-Beam to control an external synth module using V-Link. I've been unable to get my 606 to do that, but there are a lot of weird params in the V-Link mode. It DOES send out info via MIDI, so some further experimentation might be needed.

Check out this vid of Mike A using the 555 V-Link to warp video:

Y'mean some of the knobs just happen to control some of the params on Abelton by default but you can't fully feature customize it?

it sends out a midi cc thru usb, not sure about actual midi connection ill check the manual sometime
there are no submenus on the 555 therefore no way to control what cc's it sends
not a big deal to me
