Running the 606 w/drum pads

Post by jasonldrummer »

I came across a Alesis trigger I/O and i was wondering if could play sounds from my 606 onto external drum pads? I am wanting to add electric drum pads to play sample sounds on my live drum kit. Or if you guys have any other sugestions on this it would be very helpful. thanks.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Do you

a. want to playback sounds FROM within the Sp-606, by playing on those external midi capable drum pads through the Alesis trigger I/O?

b. use the SP-606 to play sounds from that drum pad unit that's again connected to the Alesis trigger I/O?

b. is not possible, as the Alesis trigger I/O only has midi out, no midi in or through.

I wonder though, do you really need the Alesis trigger I/O? It's basically only there to pass on sound information and convert it to midi signals.

Depending on your actual (digital, not analogue) drum kit and drum sound module, you might not need more than just midi cables going to your SP-606.

Hence my next question, what gear do you own already??

yes i heard that it's possible to use 606 as a sample module to play those samples on external pads.(as hooking it to electronic drumkit if you're bored of standard sounds)
