Anyone use a 404 power supply with the 303 or vice versa?

Post by Platypus Beird »

just wondering

I like the 404 power supply better, no wall wort, and it's longer...

it looks as though the 303 puts out 1 A or power, the 404 2A and that's the only difference...

I"ve been using the 404 with the 303 power supply for like an hour and it has no problems so far...and I turned the 303 on with the 404's power supply with no problem...

Be careful, I fried a $300 delay pedal by doing this once.

what did you do?

what would get fried? the 303 with the greater output (which I read in the searchs on this site is not a problem...it will only draw what it needs?) or the 404 which would possibly not get the wattage it needs?

I simply used the wrong AC adaptor by mistake and the power light on the delay pedal started flickering and it just stopped working after that.

Oh okay, well these two are pretty similar..both 9V just different watts going out, I'm just going to keep the 404 adapter

You might still fry the SP though. It's probably best to look for a adapter with the right specs. I once fried a laptop (well at least it's power supply) by using the wrong adapter for days. Worked the first week, I got smoke the 8th day.

I used a 404 adapter with my 303 for a couple months worked fine ,no side effects or frying. I would always use the right adapter with my electronics though just to be on the safe side. I had no choice because i left my 303 adapter in a different country by accident and had to wait for shipping.

^ Yep, That'll happen if you overload a power supply that doesn't have any overload protection.

3 things you need:

voltage - identical

tip polarity - identical

current (mA or A) - must be at least as much as the original power supply.. more is fine, less is not.

If you have these 3 things... you win!
