midi swing?

anyone know if they 404 accepts swing %'s from a machine is being slaved to
from me just doing it, im not sure if it does unless your samples bpm is set to pattern - then i heard a noticable difference

yeah it does

if you set the SP to record, it will play back with the swing too once you've recorded the swung sequence in

the SP receives MIDI info just as if it was your fingers hitting those notes

so you can record swing, velocity changes etc into its sequencer.

cool im not actually there with my midi knowledge to where im playing the sp from the korg, basically i just have patterns that go over top of each other on both machines, so what im wondering is if the swing from the korgs pattern transfers to the sp pattern

hey, when midi information is sent to a device, all it sends is 'play this note' at a particular point in time -

it doesnt actually tell it 'this is what the swing works like'.. it just sends out notes with different gaps between each note..

So if you're playing notes into the sp to trigger it, those notes can be swung by the midi sequencer.. (it will delay the note message or send it early).. the SP still just gets "play this note now" (its a little more complex than that, but thats all you need to know)

If you're just using midi to synchronise your SP patterns with other things, there will be no swing on the SP..

yeah that made sense man thanks,,, so i guess i have a little roadblock unless i learn how to play the sp pads from the korg, that might even be easier, i just wonder if they take up a slot on the electribes "parts"
