thanks mans. I'm in the process of adding more mixes to the site. most of them are things I did on the akai s20 but I do have 2 other 505 mixes I need to throw up.

Do you still use the Akai S20? How did you go about using it? Were you doing things live on the fly or did you track/sequence out with a DAW or other hardware sequencer? I think the s20 is a dope machine, but I'd say the sp505 is a BIG upgrade in comparison. I'd like to get my hands on either one.

the s20 in this case was used as a stage of sampling before I put the sounds in the 505. like I hook my table up to my s20, sample into it, do some basic chopping and pitching which you can't do without an fx and resample on the 505. then I played elemnts into the 505 some as loops some as just hits. then I do resampling and some editing on the 505.

this is actually a live set I was playing for a few month give or take a few parts. this was recorded in one take off the 505 into wavelab and all I added was a leveling amp. the sound is mostly just the natural sound of the 505. it's all played by hand in this case no use of the 505s sequencer. there is an ormo album that I made on the505 that I didn't use the s20 for and it's all sequenced.

That sounds like a good workflow you've got goin on. How much memory are you using on the 505 to construct a live set? Do you have to load in the middle or anything? That set you did with dual s20s is dope! How much ram did those have? I just love how people can push the limits with these older machines :)

no doubt thanks man. the 505 set is all on a 64 meg card. so no loading in the set. but when I play live I usualy have an s20 runnig through the 505 and the s20s I have both have 4 mega ram. and I try to keep everything I make on there at one floppy in size. but I love s20s I've used them as long as I've been making music and will always use them.

sometimes i do that between my sp-505 and my akai remix 16, wich is, more or less, a brother of the s-20.
cheers

yeah I always wanted to mess around on a remix16. are the buttons rubber on that thing? the s20 is an amazing sampler, but the plastic buttons kind of suck. I almost bought one about 11 years ago when they were like 500 bones. I had saved up from a summer job and sold my yamaha su10 in order to buy a remix16. but I ended up finding an s20 for 400 within 20 miles of my house, so that was it.
still my favorite sampler by far. I move between boxes but I always end up getting my best ideas out on the s20

the su10 was the sampler i got before the remix 16...what a history you reminds me...the half-nineties...
the remix 16 is the brother of the s20, the buttons are, i think, the same plastic shitty thing....i got only 30sec on my remix16...

your sound is really original here!
techno animal-throbbing gristle-funki porcini+????clouddead maybe?

you made it in the sp-505 and after charged in the s20? the pitch/scratch working is fantastic, those 2 beast (the s20 and the remix 16) when they play live they're monsters....

ps
have you got a myspace something!!??????!??
