sd cards where its at. they were smart for that.

looks like they improved the audio and sampling quality. as well as increased the banks of samples

i would rather get that than a reg. 404. actually i kind of want to buy one now. haha

copy import and gain level right up close...thats very useful

I really can't figure out what's the new shit on this one... beside SD cards up to 32GB ... technically it's the same old 404 I think...

Do you think Roland might stop producing the old 404?! Think I should grab one before it's outdated like the 303... It just works so damn fine with a mpc because of the CF cards...

How many voice does is it have? Price? When's release date?

btw. the didn't increased the number of banks.... My ol 404 got 10 banks... now count the banks on the new one... :wink:

How do you guys think about the SX? It's not what most of us expected or am I wrong? Sure it looks cool and the new features seems to be very useful, I just wonder if an improved sound means a less dope Vinyl Sim?! :roll:

Imao this machine is for the new cats, if you already got a 404 I doubt the SX will bring sth. special...Well at least I guess there is one cat in Poland who will be amazed by the copy function... lol

well first of all you can copy patterns...thats a huge improvement

up to 32 gigs storage...another huge improvement

they said they fixed the sound quality on it , another huge improvement

remember they have to engineer this thing with a "give take" method in mind, and too many features would mean battery drain to the point of uselessness...

come on people i know your disappointed but that thing is dope.

Seriously, for beat making itself I don't need 32GB.

Sound improvement... well... wasn't the 404 44,1Khz 16 bit stereo...? What can I expect from an improvement; most sp cats living the lofi-life anyway... sure I'm dissapointed, but again if you don't own a sp, this could be the shit, though I'm missing some important features...

Pattern Copy is NO argument... I liked the FlyLo trick a lot. Makes me feel like hacking the machine each time...

I'm happy with this upgrade. It's nothing completely new, but it shows the people over at Roland do listen to its customers and give them products they want. I really doubt this will be enough for people to upgrade their current 404, but new users will be happy. I'm glad they decided to refresh the sp404 as opposed to trying to make a more expensive and advanced unit (sp606 I'm looking at you). Now the interesting part will be the price which is currently unannounced. If they can roll this out for $350 I'll get one ASAP!

32 gigs is cool if your loading her up for gigs, but ive never run out of space...
like wax said, i do my ish in mono/lofi almost always, as do many SP heads.
so sound quality hasnt been a problem either. overall

i posted this over in the other thread (let's just keep one going!):

so they moved DJFX onto the faceplate and moved PITCH into the MFX...but did they improve the pitch function? that ridiculous video just mentions "PITCH!" and then they don't do any pitching.

also, do we know that it is still a one-track sequencer?

speaking of that ridiculous video, at one point they trigger a robotic human voice and i THINK it says "ELECTRIBE". am i crazy?
