anyone know of any real cool "vibey" jazz

Post by springwater »

im looking for that jazz music that sounds sort of like lounge music, no drums or just really quiet drums. but alot of the instruments are maybe an organ, vibes, piano, probably an upright bass or something. i keep hearing bits of this sort of sound in movies from the 70's but i cant find any records of it. i was just watching david bowies, man who fell to earth and it was a scene where this guy plays a record and this beautiful jazz came out. anyone know of anything close to this sound?
thanks

nah, it was when he met with that first guy in his home and offered him an envelope full of money. at the beginning of that scene the guy puts on a record of some really soft jazz. that song thats playing in the beginning is really weird but it has a funkadelic groove to it. i sampled that already, tee hee. ill check out the 2 guys you recommended. thanks alot.

hey, i checked out that gary burton and he's pretty cool. nice with the vibraphone. i think i may be able to sample that section of music from the movie and post it here cause i really wanna start buying records of that type of music, you know, just to listen to for my own relaxation, then flip the hell out of it. it sounds like that gary burton stuff i heard but more old school- ish, like form the 60's in a b-movie soundtrack. you can find it in many blaxploitation sex scenes and the beginning of porno scenes in those 70's movies, hah. yaw know what im talking bout!
