I bought a stereo cable today to record from my tape player to my computer - I thought all I had to do was stick one side of the cable into the headphone jack on the tape player, stick the other side in the input jack on my computer, and record onto Garageband or Audacity. I don't hear any sound or see waves... why does this not work, and what can I do with what I have to make it work?

Thanks a lot!

i hear it works if you sample the song to a pad on your sp and then export that and open it with a card reader

there's no way you need to go through all that trouble. its got to be an output setting in your garageband preferences or computer's system preferences

yeah well he mentioned garageband so i'm assuming his mac is new enough to have a decent soundcard. i got the first generation macbook and i thought that was one of the first machines to have garageband
