Ok so due to some people speaking out this will be the new official open challenge thread. i think it should be that the winner of an open challenge chooses a sample/rules for the next battle. so every battle is different. for example...
RULES Any sampler equipment Outside drums allowed BUT you must use the drums in the break from the sample at some point Outside samples allowed 2:30 time limit for your beat No accapellas but vocal cuts allowed Multi-tracking allowed (pc or hardware) Due 10 days from today Ok so sick song right here. you got bass, crazy vox, and a drum break @ 2:06. WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED

i think time limit is good actually, i'm inclined to build my tracks out forever...this will encourage me to stick to the point
good rules too, let's get this Open Challenge up and going. most SP heads were keen to use their synths/sequencers in a battle, here's their chance!
kill your darlings

I put some glue on it, now it sticks.
Cool rules by the way, 10 days sounds good to me, I'm in.

The sample itself is cool, but it's tough to break it apart indeed. I'll probably get something done though.

Looping the break? Possible, but nah I feel like messing with the vocal stabs in there too.

This is a sick song, where the hell did you find something like that?
I'll see what I can get out of this.
Question: It says any sampler equipment and outside samples allowed, so we can't use software like Reason, right? Or is it totally freestyle with instruments and whatever we can get our hands on? If not, I could sample myself on an instrument
