dude wasn't a fool. totally knew his printer world, but didn't know roland's other side.

all that to say: i think Roland are just rolling out new giant printers.

 fantastic story man! i never realised Roland were involved in printing

it's like Yamaha - famous to me for their synths and groovebox/sequencers...but then some people only know them for their boat motors! WTF? such disparate industries

damn, I actually hope they don't trump the SP-555 in any major way. Mine hasn't even arrived yet. I will have had it for less than 2 weeks when this new gear is released...

dont worry, they haven't really done anything like that before

each machine still holds up on its own

Yamaha is famous to me for making top quality saxophones. Come to think of it, they are the only company that I can think of that has a professional line of EVERY single acoustic band and orchestra instrument. Their saxophones aren't my favorite--a little too "smooth" sounding--but if I had to use one for the rest of my career, I'd have no worries.

It's probably a market where Akai already disappeared from.

it's true. yamaha's corporate symbol is three overlapping tuning forks. yet dudes get a yamaha motorbike (or ride-em-lawnmower) and are surprised the company also makes musical gear!
