For me it would probably be hearing the same stuff over and over then getting it stuck in your head. kills it for me.

True but that's where the 404 comes handy for me because I can lay down the main idea of a beat real quick without getting sidetracked. That's also why I like the all-in-one-box solutions like a 404 or my mpc. I need to know my limits .

Yep, and I do vocals over my beats too... so I hear the beats for even a longer time span...by the time I finish...even my best beats seem lame to me.

^hah I feel you on that one, I rhyme too. 2nd worst part is searching for samples on wax. Damn. Cleaning the records and having to listen to a bunch of wackness...

Recording / mixing. Can never get the final product the way I want it.

That's my favorite part of beat making >.>

Actually, let me re-phrase that, finding that amazing sample makes me so happy. Listening to hours upon hours of shittily made music isn't fun. So I hear you there.

Part I hate the most is overthinking, instead of letting my ears run the show.

Probably thinking of the song in my head and not being able to get it out the way it sounds in my head.

The thing I hate most about beatmaking is that most people are more interested in the HOW than the WHAT. I mean, who cares if the beat was sampled and chopped from an old Jazz record, made with a drum synth, an MPC, an SP, FL, Cubase, Acid .......... you get the idea........ If the beat sounds good I don't CARE where it came from.

I think it largely stems from people wanting to 'learn' the production techniques of others...(read 'steal')..
