Just picked up a 303 to keep my 404 company

Post by SLEEPS NUMB »

found a 303 on craigslist for 120 with 128 meg smartcard, have it connected to my turntables then the outputs into my 404's input, having fun bouncing tracks and using two effects at the same time, any one else currently rocking this setup?

I rock the 303 and 404. I make simple patterns for the battles using the 404 sequencer and just bounce the simple drums into the 303 so it is on a pad, then lay stuff over the original pad, it is kinda like having pattern copy feature that we have all been wanting.

I find that the 303 sounds a little warmer than the 404. I also like the pads on the 303. What was roland thinking with those hard buttons on the 404? I also notice that when you trigger a sample on the 404 and adjust the start/end points the 404 will re-trigger the sample, the 303 however, will play the sample through while you edit the st/end points and I like that. I know it is a little nit picky but this is the place to talk about these things.

That's the one thing i miss about the 303, besides the fact that your pattern BPM stays where you left it when you turn the machine off. Only thing good about that in the 404 is you don't have to be recording to change the BPM.

Naw man... The 303 can do that shit, too.
Jus press pattern select and then time/bpm... works while recording, playback and stop-mode...
One thing I'd like to know, where is the fucking rehearsal (? REH) in pattern record mode... seems like there is none..?!

Anyway love this little beast. I'm so happy to finally picked one up after years of thinking about...
