Sample Recording

Post by PillBaxton »

I'm thinking about purchasing the Roland SP-404 but I have a couple questions regarding samples and such.
I've been watching videos of people recording beats on the pad, and right before they record they get a 4 beat countdown. But when they would record something like vocals it didn't give the 4 beat countdown. I was wondering if there was an option to get the 4 beat countdown when your recording using line in or mic function. (The reason I ask this is because I like to use guitars and such, but pressing the record button and playing guitar at the same time isn't always an easy task.)
Also, I didn't see a USB/Midi plug anywhere, is there anyway of importing loops other than recording or using memory?
Thanks

welcome g,

yeah, you can decide whether you want to use a 4 count before it starts or sample immediately. i think it has to do with if you have the time/bpm button lit before you record or something like that.

there is no usb port but you can use a card reader to swap files around pretty quickly.

BUY IT!!! :D

yeah the 404 is a very good portable machine....had 1 for about 6 months (hat´s how I landed here) ..well now I sample with my MC-909 but still, best buy for a small wallet.

I´m thinking on getting a SP again....maybe the 606 or an MV...can´t decide yet
