Afternoon people,
In the future i'm looking to purchase a MV 8800, as the whole in box solution sounds ideal. i would definatly want to do my vocals into the machine aswell, does anyone have experience with vocals within the mv as far as recording mixing and mastering goes. is it good for this aswell?? the lack of phantom power and no xlr inputs won't be a problem. go on, give me the green light!!
I'm gonna be going thru the mvnation pages aswell but all opinions are valid.

i do it all the time. basically i finish a beat. then my friends come over and we just hang out, get drunk and when i wake up the next morning and turn on the mv it is all there. 
i simply record vocals in my home studio- i have a pro mic with all the required shizzle so the quality is not a problem because the sound goes through a preamp and then into compresser/limiter/gate unit and then finally into the mv. doing it this way i always have a nice and clean, compressed vocals recorded directly into the mv. later if it is required i might adjust the eq for the specific audio track to even something out but nothing major. i almost never use any of those fancy effects on vocals so i resample vocals quite rarely. basically get a normal external gear so that your vocals require small to no adjustments and then your life on the mv will be perfect.
when im done with the track on the mv i even out all tracks so that they sound as good as possible in the mix with the vocals. then you mix it down. if you do want to finish your beat on the mv mix it well and then go to mastering process to do the final adjustments.
i on the other hand usually mixdown to 8 audio tracks and burn them on to the cd and give it out to other people so that they can do the final mix and master. you can do it all by yourself but i believe that the ears that where used to create the song usually cant master it perfectly due to them getting used to the dirty mix and/or any other problems within the song. so thats why i think it is important to give it to someone else who knows a lot about mastering and can put a final shine on the track.

You'll be extremely glad you did so though! The MV is a lot of fun and gives you a whole lot of musical possibilities. Can't help the fanboy talk, but it's almost like having fallen in love.

Ez,
another question for you both.
i will most definatly be using the vga option when it comes to finishings tracks in the mv with the more in depth options (mixing mastering etc).
Is the mv compatible with any vga monitor or does it require a specific one??

Basically any screen will do, classic tube model or flatscreen etc. heck you can even hook up a beamer to it, the only requirement is that the monitor is able to output the 640x480 resolution the MV can output.
This means, sóme of the newest monitors might not work (widerscreens with weird native resolutions, or very high resolution monitors that do not have a 640x480 mode anymore), but basically any monitor will be able to handle the resolution as far as I know.
I'm thinking even those newer ones will actually work and show stuff, but it probably just looks odd when it's stretched or off-center as a true compatible monitor wouldn't.

If it's more or less a good LCD then those should almost always have auto-adjust function which will automatically stretch and position the image for you if it does not fit correctly at the first time. I have used 3 various monitors with my MV and none of them had any problems. One was CRT the other two where LCD monitors. So as Phem said I guess 99% of them should work nicely.
