Re: new MV video
Hmmm, not quite sure what I would like to see. To some extent it would be neat to see another one of those 'from start to finish' kind of beats. Just making a song, recording it and posting a slightly edited video.
I'm not a master in using my MV just yet, but I can't quite think of something important that I would like to see.
Usage of the bass synth would be neat. Some people use it the midi way, other people record a bassline, chop it up and then mix it up so you'll get more loopy basslines with more than single notes at a time. Perhaps, if you want to go for something different, you could try that.

i might also break down a finished song and show everyone how does a full song look like in mv

Oh sure, that would be just as good. I'm sure it would be a bit hit and miss sometimes making a good beat in one go with the camera rolling.
I sure as heck can't do it. I usually throw away loads of the stuff I made initially.
All good though, the world needs more MV videos, so more power to you man. Peace.

Re: new MV video
even some simple stuff not done by a roland product specialist would be dope to see.. i like the idea of a simple beat start to finish... messing with the mv in the store is a little hard sometimes for me (i dont own one but want one) it doesnt seem like a machine that turns on and you can make a pattern right off the bat like a 404 or a simple groove box.. i know its probably easier than im making it fumbling around on it but anything would be cool really..

Actually, you can very much do exactly that. I often even use my MV to do a quick jam.
All you have to do is load up some drumkits, some keys, synths and you're ready to go. That's really the only part where the MV will need a bit more time and that's when loading up some patches.
When you're sampling from records, the work flow is very neat in my opinion.
I'm sure you are basically right in that the sp-404 is probably a bit faster in it's work flow for the main part though.
@Olby: Did you finish shooting that video? I'm curious to see what you've came up with.

Can you plug in and use a USB keyboard into the MV to 'play' samples, or just midi?

Yeah, in fact you can do all kinds of neat stuff like pitch bending and using the modulation wheel on such a MIDI keyboard also. The MV will recognize all that.
Good news Olby, I'm looking forward to this!

i would love to see a vid showing the mv's built in samples and midi capabilities for future reference
Re: new MV video
hi olby!
me i want to see what makes you bought this machine and left the great sp-505 !!
no, seriously, i saw all your youtube sp-505 videos and you convinced me (not only with those, also with some posts/discussions) to buy the 505, so i'll give you confidence to any video you will post!
peace
ps
maybe you will convince me to buy the MV

There's like 500mb of built in samples, more if you download the few download packages they've released, so it would be quite a huge task to show all the built in sounds. But I can assure you that they're very useful and even without tweaking sound really great.
I'm thinking about making a movie as well, so I might do a short video on the built in sounds as well. I'm not so sure how I would go about recording the sound though. My video camera surely wouldn't be up to the task of accurately recording the sound.

record the output and try to sync it as best you can?
i really need to get a camera because there is a severe lack of good kp3/sp555 performances, and i know i can do better than the crap floatin around
let us know if you make one!

Quite nice, definitely some features I never used, but they seem a lot more useful to me now.
Good movies.
