does anyone think beats sound way better when done in stereo.

if polyphony wasnt such a big issue for me id do all of them in stereo, but oh well some mono beats sound good, but would be way better if they were stereo.

like the kicks and snares samples everything in stereo !

too much stereo things will start to lose their punch..

good use of stereo is all about the balance.. as with everything in every aspect of everything ever to exist..

Same here, but in my case I don't have to worry about polyphony limits, that definitely helps a lot in ignoring the stereo aspect of music too. So it ain't always a good thing.

Certainly, but some frequency information is not interpreted by the ear as stereo, bass and kick drums are not, and you will sometimes get more punch by providing them in mono.

If you got the polyphony, sure, do everything in stereo, but i'd probably prefer to sample signature sounds in stereo, the other stuff in Mono, this will save polyphony, and create a great contrast.

Nah, I have to disagree here. A tend to use a lot of reverb on my kicks and bass drums. That will sound a bit off if the sample is mono.

A mono kick mostly doesn't sound bad, don't get me wrong, but a stereo one sounds a lot better in my opinion.

The frequency stuff makes sense, but don't forget that depends hugely on your source as well. Most kicks that come straight off a record, will have a fairly good range of frequencies in which the sound will be heard.

What most people do to get the best kind of kicks and bass drums is cut off a certain frequency and layer it with another sample that will fill the gap with the right frequencies. If done properly, you will hear a 'bigger' sound in stereo because it basically gets more room.

Also, the beauty of stereo is of course that you can pan sounds to give even more of an impression of space within a song.

I'm not disagreeing here, but why? I'm curious about what can go wrong?

if someone plays your track on a PA that is a mono system (more common than you'd think),
phase cancellation can kill your lovely deep sounds.

most all of my shit is mono, coming from my mpc60/s950 days I think it sounds better-plus you can pull different shit from the left and right sides...pan them later if you want for effect..you can make a mono kick have a stereo reverb by the way (in the DAW with bussing)

Yeah, I can do that on my MV too. Reverb is always stereo, unless I resample it onto a sample and then make it mono.

Nah man, don't! Making music isn't solving a math equation. I am sure that paying too much attention to detail will rather ruin the musicality than anything else. 8)

Stereo is key. Making music isn't a math equation, but mixing is. If your worried about how your ish will sound on a mono system, collapse it to mono and get your phase right. Your ish will sound better even if it's never played on a mono system if you do this anyways.
