Metronome

alot of times id rather track stuff out live without sequencing into my DAW or pattern sequencer but with the 555 audio in/out if i use the metronome its going to start recording it

easy solution ive just been lazy to find it

just choose a tempo and boom you got your direct x soundcard and normal speakers playing a metronome so now it doesnt record.

this will probably help all of two people but im throwin it out there for you

these are ALOT less annoying. i hate the sp ones too, the volume always starts way too high

Don't most SP's have a metronome you can turn the volume down of?

yea but thats not the issue

the issue is when i want to overdub into ableton live

the in/out audio driver means whatever you hear is recorded, thus the metronome is recorded

thanks HD! i was actually gonna go buy a little metronome till i saw this. i don't ever use the sequencer on my 404 so this is perfect for when i'm tappin out my drums.

Aahhh, I see, yeah that's totally true.

But why aren't you using the metronome in Albeton then?

The metronome online is still useful though.

If any of you guys own a sony w810 mobile phone it has a metronome in one of it's applications it doe 3/4 and 4/4 and 80/160bpm

Seriously? Wow that's pretty bad. I know the metronome in Reaper doesn't get recorded for sure. Perhaps there is some kind of setting?

It's odd that it records the metronome. I mean, not when it's the SP-555 metronome of course, but the internal Albleton one shouldn't be recorded.

why wouldnt it get recorded?

you hear the metronome through your speakers, just as you hear it in the 555. its like cable going from your speakers back into the 555 so theres no way the metronome would ever be separate unless you turned off the monitor completely for the program, in which case you would not hear the metronome nor the stuff playing in the program you are using.

it allows you to work with any software without any sort of routing messiness and to easily edit stuff on the 555 in the program and vice versa. best feature on the whole machine

Well, you can trust me when I say that metronomes inside software programs definitely usually aren't recorded, just like your metronome inside your SP-555 that's ticking but never gets recorded when only using the SP-555.

Of course, when you're recording all the output of the SP-555, you'll record the metronome too, but if you switch the metronome off on the SP-555 and the metronome of Ableton on, it shouldn't record Ableton's metronome.

But I'm sorry if I've misunderstood something.

The metronome is on an internal track when it comes to both the SPs and software, it's just that the out going single has both the metronome and what you have recorded going to one and the same audio soundcard. Internally most DAWs won't ever record their internal metronome.
