first of all, you wont need the session view (bunch of horizontal rectangles stacked vertically)

so hit tab and thats your standard arrangement view like other programs

once the wave is there you can turn off quantization and drag and drop selected parts of the wave without stupid shortcuts and such getting in the way

also ctrl click and drag makes a duplicate

if you already have the tempo double click the file and make sure the "WARP" button is unlit

then set both the master and clip tempo to what you had

ableton seems to be the only software I can get my head around, I downloaded a reason demo and whoa it confused me....

shame my laptop dies everytime I install ableton

It helps to know about hardware routing, CV to get into Reason. Make sure to check out version 4, lots of improvements to the sequencer there.
