sample editing...

i want a program where i can see the actual sound wave of a sample, copy and paste peices of it or delete peices of it. i know ive seen it a million times im just not sure what to use...

i tried it in sonar...but i just cant get it...ive always stuck to fl studio and the version i have cant do that...

ableton live is my favorite thing for chopping stuff up and looping it etc.. the warping is great, has good hotkeys for slicing up / consolidating audio etc. too.

yes audacity is still my go to man for mp3 conversion and other little things

reaper is also free but i dont like the way things are set up...its like they want you to be confused

check up on audacity and reaper, they will probably fit your needs

can never go wrong with wavosour i think it fits on a floppy to use on lpatops with no cd roms. its good for chopping , looping , single track stereo wave editor. http://www.wavosaur.com/

it suppoirts vsts, and there is tons of mastering plugins and stuff

assuming youve got a sp, there is no problem doing the chopping in the box either. quite eazy on both sp-404 and sp-606. probably on the other sp-series samplers as well. no need to watch waveforms, the ears should do most of the job...

so did i when i first sampled on a ms-1 or later on the emu esi-32, but when i finally god waveform editing, i realised i used my eyes, not my ears, to trim endpoints and chop samples. You dont need a sample to look good, you need it to sound good.

hes editing an already completed song, how would an sp achieve anything there?

all i wanted is something to chop and edit small sections of a finished track. now FL studio can do that, but not the best...i would think it would be easier to see the actual sound wave to do the editing so i can see where it starts and ends and all that.

That's my secret weapon right there

by far the easiest method of chopping, rearranging, speeding up/slowing down mp3 and wav files... I actually used to make beats with that program alone until I got a sp606 and started messing with vinyl. It still has its place in my setup tho.

...but u will still need something like audicity to bounce ur finished tracks from ur sp... mp3 audio mix is just nice to have in order to toss around samples easily
